“The Nucleus of the Universal Brotherhood of Humanity” – Soen Nakagawa Roshi

Nyogen Senzaki Roshi (1907 - 1984) was the Dharma heir of the great Rinzai Zen master Gempo Yamamoto Roshi (1866-1861). Soen Roshi became the Abbot of Ryotaku-ji when Gempo Roshi passed away and is known as an enigmatic character of deep Zen insight and practice. He established many Zen centers in the West beginning the the 1960's until the early 1980's. Many years earlier, he connected with Nyogen Senzaki Roshi, who invited him to the United States. Below, is a talk Nyogen Senzaki gave at the Theosophical Library in San Francisco, June 19, 1949, entitled "On the Lotus of the Wonderful Law: Introducing Soen Nakagawa." We have made some excerpts from the part of this talk by Soen Nakagawa Roshi and re titled it: "The Nucleus of the Universal Brotherhood of Humanity". Soen Nakagawa Roshi begins his talk quoting the three objectives of the Theosophical Society.
